Nyhavn
Nyhavn is Copenhagen's most iconic waterfront district, a 17th-century canal lined with brightly colored townhouses, historic wooden ships, and bustling cafes. Tivoli Gardens
Tivoli Gardens, opened in 1843, is one of the oldest operating amusement parks in the world and a beloved Danish institution that inspired Walt Disney to create Disneyland. The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid bronze statue has sat on a rock at the Langelinie promenade since 1913, gazing wistfully out to sea. Created by sculptor Edvard Eriksen, the statue was commissioned by Carl Jacobsen (of Carlsberg fame) after he became fascinated by a ballet about Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale. At just 1.25 meters tall, she is famously smaller than most visitors expect, but her melancholy beauty and the story she represents have made her Denmark's most recognizable symbol.

Kronborg Castle
Kronborg Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is immortalized as Elsinore in Shakespeare's Hamlet. This magnificent Renaissance castle guards the narrowest point of the Øresund strait between Denmark and Sweden. Built in the 1420s and enlarged by King Frederick II, it features elaborate tapestries, royal apartments, and the legendary casemates where the mythical hero Holger Danske is said to sleep, ready to awaken and defend Denmark in her hour of greatest need. Amalienborg Palace
Amalienborg is the official residence of the Danish Royal Family, consisting of four identical Rococo palaces arranged around an octagonal courtyard with an equestrian statue of King Frederik V at its center. The changing of the Royal Guard takes place daily at noon, with soldiers marching from Rosenborg Castle through Copenhagen's streets to Amalienborg.
