Museum of Islamic Art
Designed by architect I.M. Pei and opened in 2008, the Museum of Islamic Art is one of the world's most significant Islamic art museums and a masterpiece of contemporary architecture. The fortress-like white limestone building rises from a man-made island on the Doha Corniche, housing 14 centuries of Islamic art from three continents.

Souq Waqif

The Pearl-Qatar

Inland Sea (Khor Al Adaid)
A rare geographical phenomenon — an arm of the Arabian Gulf that penetrates deep into the interior of the Arabian Peninsula through a narrow channel, entirely surrounded by massive sand dunes of the Rub' al Khali (Empty Quarter). A UNESCO-recognized natural reserve, it is Qatar's most dramatic natural landscape.

National Museum of Qatar
Designed by Jean Nouvel and opened in 2019, the National Museum of Qatar is a spectacular building of interlocking discs inspired by the desert rose crystal formation. Zubarah Fort (UNESCO)

Doha Corniche
A 7-kilometre waterfront promenade curving around Doha Bay, offering the finest views of the city skyline — a forest of modern towers reflected in the Gulf waters. The Corniche is the social promenade of Doha, lined with parks, fountains, traditional dhow boats, and the setting for Qatar's major outdoor events.

Katara Cultural Village

Camel Race Track (Al Shahaniya)
Qatar's famous camel racing track, located 40 kilometres west of Doha at Al Shahaniya, where races have been held since ancient times. Modern races are conducted with robotic jockeys (remote-controlled whips operated by handlers following in SUVs alongside the track), replacing child jockeys following a 2005 ban.

Aspire Park

Al Wakrah Old Town

Doha Design District (D3)

974 Stadium (Ras Abu Aboud)
One of the most architecturally innovative stadiums ever built — the world's first fully demountable FIFA World Cup stadium, constructed entirely from 974 shipping containers (reflecting Qatar's dialling code and the number of containers used). After the 2022 World Cup it is being repurposed as a venue.

Al Zubarah Archaeological Site
A UNESCO World Heritage fortified trading and pearling town on Qatar's northwest coast, abandoned in the 1810s after military defeat. Ongoing archaeological excavation continues to uncover the street plan, houses, mosques, and harbour of an 18th-century Gulf trading town perfectly preserved beneath desert sand.

Al Janoub Stadium
An architecturally stunning FIFA World Cup stadium designed by the late Zaha Hadid, whose flowing curves were inspired by the traditional dhow boat hull shapes of Qatar's pearl diving heritage. The 40,000-seat stadium in Al Wakrah was the first World Cup 2022 venue to be completed.

Doha Fort (Al Koot Fort)
A small but atmospheric fort in the heart of old Doha, originally built to protect the pearling market of Souq Waqif and the old city from raids. The restored mud-brick structure now houses a small museum documenting the growth of Qatar and the history of the pearl trade.
